DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton - Kuala Lumpur

Had a short solo trip to this hotel and stayed for a night in Oct 2022. If you were to ask me to rate this hotel(let's talk about the price later - see my invoice below), I would give this hotel a 5/5 rating.

Cleanliness - 5/5

Staff Professionalism - 5/5

Food - 5/5 (I had 1x breakfast, 2x morning tea break, 2x lunch, and 2x afternoon tea break)

Location - 5/5
(very near to KLCC, within walking distance of 1km, if by grab RM5.30 during non-peak hours)

To travel to the hotel, I took Grab from KLIA, and it cost me about RM70 (inclusive of toll charges). The journey took less than an hour in the early Saturday morning.

I reached the hotel before 8am, and was told standard check-in time is at 2pm, though I've requested for early check-in earlier, the request was not granted due to the reason that the hotel was fully booked at that moment.

So I went to my conference first, and checked in at about 3pm during the tea break. My room was 1805.

My room - 1805 (18th floor)

Entrance of my room

On the right of the entrance is the bathroom/toilet

One king size bed

One can see through the toilet through the glass panel, motorized roller blind is there to protect your privacy

As seen in the pictures, tip-top room condition, cozy, cold and most important of all, all the rooms are non-smoking room.

Now, for the price, to be honest, RM473.28 for such a room(with breakfast) is a little overpriced. I booked the room 2 weeks before my arrival, which i guess it was quite late. Early bird booking and non-peak season price is slightly cheaper at below RM400, or, you can opt out the breakfast to save some money.

Apple Hotel, Kuala Lumpur 2013

Apple Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, situated right at the middle of happening Jalan Alor, is one of the best budget hotels that I've stayed in.

With only 5 minutes walk from Bukit Bintang Monorail, it is quite a strategic hotel, which is very easy for me to shop in Sungei Wang Plaza, Pavillion, Farenheit etc. In addition, dinner is just nearby where I can just walk out of the hotel and have my meal along Jalan Alor.

Due to its popularity, it is always best to book early. Though I am travelling alone for 2 nights, I managed only to book a night for double and then for single. Price is RM128 and RM98 respectively. Hence, as for my first night, I stayed in room 410, room for 2.

A comfortable and small room.

 Relatively clean bathroom.

Though a small room, they managed to squeeze in a table and a chair.

Cute sink in apple green and apple shape.

Then, on the second day, I moved to single room, room 201. Well, there wasn't any huge difference, except that they do not have the table and the chair, and they only provided me with one towel, as contrast to my previous night.

Not to mentioned the hotel, they provides free Wifi, and also free luggage storage service. In addition, for in and out of the hotel, you need to scan your room card to enter the hotel, and then to enter the rooms area, pretty impressive. :)

Nilai Spring resort, Kuala Lumpur

Before my trip to Korea, the agent arranged for us to stay in Kuala Lumpur for a night in order to catch the early morning flight the next day. (We are from East Malaysia)

Designated hotel was Nilai Spring Resort, which is around 30 minutes from LCCT/KLIA.

 Room for 2 person.

Overall, hotel is clean. However, no bath tub provided, and the breakfast provided were of limited choices. No WiFi provided. Due to its location, transport for non-locals is an issue.

The hotel in fact provide shuttle van to nearest KTM station at the rate of RM70 per round trip(Hotel - KTM, KTM - Hotel), which is about 25 minutes away. From KTM then one can decide to explore Kuala Lumpur using other means of public transport, such as monorail, LRT, bus etc through KL Sentral.

Due to its inconvenient location, I will not stay there in the future for my vacation unless it is included in the tour package.

Pavillion, Kuala Lumpur, November 2012

Spent my November 2012 vacation at Kuala Lumpur for a period of 5 days 4 night. Stayed at Sunway Putra Hotel, I spent a day travelling to Pavillion at Bukit Bintang. From the Hotel, in fact I could easily catch the LRT (PWTC station), to Titiwangsa (RM1.20), and change to monorail to Bukit Bintang (RM2.60). However, since I was travelling with my wife and a seven-month-old infant, I decided to catch a taxi, and it cost me RM15, sounds reasonable to me for a 10 minutes drive.

However, at about 7pm while I was trying to get a taxi, the taxi driver quoted me RM50, and refused to run on meter, I am talking about the normal budget taxi, not the LIMO or executive taxi. Now its the time I experienced the brutality of KL taxi driver. Well, if they behaved that way, then I had no choice but to take the train, which cost about RM7 for 2 adults to travel from Bukit Bintang back to my hotel, Sunway Putra Hotel.

Beautifully and gracefully decorated Pavillion. Worth the visit and shopping.

However, the taxi drivers left me a bad impression on overall Kuala Lumpur taxi services, it's still fine with me as a Malaysian. As for tourists from other countries, I pity them as they have no clue on how to use local train and bus services, and resorted to paying expensive taxi fares to unethical taxi drivers.

Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Another official trip to Kuala Lumpur, this round I stayed at Sunway Putra Hotel, situated just beside PWTC LRT station.

It's easy to go Sunway Putra Hotel, of course easier with taxi. Taxi counter at KLIA charged us around RM74 for 2 adults. However, a cheaper way would be getting a bus to KL Sentral, then take a LRT to PWTC station.

Cost per night as a government servant rate is RM255, inclusive of tax, with breakfast for 2 included.

We stayed at 15th floor, a non-smoking floor. However, every night we could still smell cigarette smell from the centralized air-conditioning. In addition, cigarette were seen at the rubbish bin!. Although we lodged a report to the manager, nothing has been done, the manager just told us to complain again if you smell cigarette smell, they will send their security to investigate.

However, other staff, such as potter, security, chef were generally very helpful and polite.

If not for official duty, I won't be staying at this hotel.

Grand Blue Wave Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

From 16th October to 19th October 2012, I have the privilege to go for an official trip and stay in a 5 star hotel, Grand Blue Wave Hotel at Shah Alam, Kuala Lumpur.

It is situated at Shah Alam, just beside to UMNO Selangor building.

Outside view of from my room, can see the elegant mosque.

Overall the accommodation was good, with good food served too. However, due to its relatively-isolated location, there weren't much to explore during my free time, unless you are willing to take a cab to elsewhere. Gym, Spa and Jacuzzi are free for all hotel guests.

However, if not for the official trip, I will not come back in the future as there is some difficulties in getting monorail/LRT. :(

Shogun Japanese Buffet @ Sunway, Kuala Lumpur

My first ever experience at Shogun, a Japanese buffet restaurant, at Kuala Lumpur. Though there are many outlets in West Malaysia, they are yet to embark into East Malaysia market.

My all time favourite Japanese food ever, Sashimi!

Cheese stuffed into it, taste real...maybe I am not gifted to eat this kind of seafood.

Tempura

I don't like this either, though cheese is my favorite.

Different types of Sushi

Had to use a long sharp stick to 'dig' the body out. Nice? Try it yourself.

 Tom Yam Noodles

Not an expensive meal, cost us around RM120 for 2 person, and you can enjoyed as much as you can handle.
